Liberty Seguros Appoints Juan Miguel Estallo as Chief Executive Officer

Published on 23 November 2020

Liberty Seguros, the company that operates Liberty Mutual Global Retail Markets in Europe, has appointed Juan Miguel Estallo as Chief Executive Officer. The appointment was approved by the Liberty Seguros Board of Directors and it is subject to regulatory approvals.

Juan Miguel will oversee the company’s operation in the West European Market, including Spain, Ireland, Portugal and Northern Ireland, replacing Tom McIlduff, who recently announced plans to pursue new opportunities. McIlduff, who led Liberty Seguros since 2017, will work with Juan Miguel to ensure a smooth transition over the coming months.

During his 13-year career at Liberty Seguros, Juan Miguel has held different roles across the organisation, joining the executive team in 2013. Most recently as Liberty Seguros Product Director, he has led the business to develop product and pricing strategies to help grow the business in a profitable and sustainable way.

Juan Miguel Estallo commented: “I’m very honoured and thankful to Liberty Seguros for the opportunity to lead the company in these challenging times. At Liberty we exist to help people embrace today and confidently pursue tomorrow. Throughout 2020, thanks to the passion of our team, we have demonstrated that we can make our business grow. I will continue to ensure that we deliver our promises to our customers and live our values by putting people first.”

In July, Liberty Seguros announced an investment of €100 million to create a new model of operating insurance, by designing a unique concept of disruptive technology based on a digital ecosystem in the public cloud. Since then, its motor direct business for Ireland and Spain are already operating through an insurtech approach based on offering customers simple and modular products.
